ARTISTS STATEMENT My mediums are oil, acrylics, drawing, sculpture and texts. My style follows a Nordic painting tradition with landscapes and relationships influenced by art history and artists such as Munch, Cezanne and Hopper. In the show "Everglades - People and Place", my attempt was to find answers to questions about identity, cultural as well as national belonging, which is universal. The landscape was a main factor and my hope was to create an art experience through the people's interesting history, a voice hidden in the sump and a history of survival and hope, a picture of people’s journey through life with yesterday’s and today’s experiences, and tomorrow’s hopes, dreams and expectations.
I am a Norwegian artist and have spent part of the year in West Palm Beach for about 20 years. In addition I have a studio in Oslo. In Florida, I enjoy plain air painting in the fascinating sump forest and the beautiful beach. In 2012 I received a grant to make an art project about "Everglades - People and Place", with focus on the Seminole People today, exploring how their forefathers' culture influences their everyday lives? The result was shown in The Armory Art Center in October 2014. My work is shown and selling in galleries both in the US and Norway. I have been a teacher of English in High School and editor in a Publishing firm in Norway for several years before becoming a full time artist.
