ARTISTS STATEMENT EcoArt and Social Practice projects fuse disciplines together to form a social sculpture: a kinetic performance and collaboration of municipalities, organizations, communities, individuals, ecosystems, living/non-living materials to protect and conserve native habitat. The "Habitat Sculptures" created through the projects become a refuge for native plants and animals and continue to enrich the community and environment year after year.
Jesse Etelson is an artist, activist and art educator. He is a graduate of the EcoArt South Florida 2009 Apprenticeship mentored by Betsy Damon and is an assistant to pioneering wildlife EcoArtist, Lynne Hull. Since his EcoArt apprenticeship, Jesse has directed several ongoing EcoArt projects in South Florida focusing on wildlife conservation, water quality and community restoration. As a teaching and practicing EcoArtist, he is committed to advancing community education and action by inspiring current and new generations through environmental and social stewardship. |
