ARTISTS STATEMENT
Composition, color, shapes, placement and surface all are important elements of my work. It was my good fortune to have studied at Brooklyn College where I was influenced by my instructors Mark Rothko and Jimmy Ernst. In each medium in which I've worked - acrylic, mixed media, monotype and jewelry design - composition has been the most important element, but layering and form have also had a role in my striving for a unique voice in the world of art. The composition is intuitive. It begins with inspiration, followed by ideas, mood, luck, imagination and risk as I draw on my own experiences to develop the piece. Each work of art is interactive, challenging the imagination of the viewer. |
