ARTISTS STATEMENT
The photorealist painter uses the paintbrush to convey the world as in a photograph and Cheryl Maeder, as a photographer, uses her camera as an instrument to convey the world through painterly eyes. Part color field painter, part impressionist, and part abstractionist, Maeder conveys to the viewer the world we see as part of a larger reality, and that what appears to be clear and in focus is only our perception.
Maeder’s photography work is in the permanent collection of the Frost Museum, Miami, exhibited at Louvre Museum/Paris, Boca Museum of Art, and Norton Museum. She was recently selected for a 2016 exhibition at Miami International Airport by The Fine Art & Cultural Affairs Board of MIA, consisting of members of the professional art community of Miami. Two of Maeder’s photographs were selected by Art Miami/Art Southampton to represent Art Southampton 2015 worldwide marketing campaign. She has been awarded the 2014 Moscow International Foto Award, the Artoteque Biennial Contemporary Art Award of Excellence, International Color Awards Photography Masters Cup, Women in Photography International, and Hasselblad Lurzer’s International Screenings Award. Cheryl Maeder’s photographs are auctioned at Sotheby’s NY, and collected worldwide. |
