ARTISTS STATEMENT
Ezra Hubbard is an interdisciplinary artist who works in video, installation, paint, and ink. At the core of this recent work is a commitment to examine emotional content in history. Hubbard sees the current re-examination of history as a yearning for acknowledgement of others emotional lives. By manipulating 3D printers, he is able to create luminous ethereal three dimensional forms.

In many traditional cultures, circular structures are places set aside for transformation and guidance, here Hubbard offers the same. Sound is infused into the space to bring a sense of immediacy and to create a place for reflection and free association.

Tim B. Wride, Curator of Photography at The Norton Museum, recently wrote, “Ezra has a keen sensitivity and hard-won ability to interweave the weight of sculpture, the luminosity of painting, and emotion of light. Rarely has gravity appeared so ethereal."

Ezra Hubbard has worked in the visual arts for more than 25 years. He had a previous career in the film industry as an editor where he worked for major film studios and independents. He earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in June 2019. Ezra’s West Palm Beach studio is at Studio 1608.
