The Buddha' by Elle Schorr

Let's just have some fun. The Gallery at LK Mix Funky Fun Furnishings offers one such opportunity. Directed by Betty Wilson, the owner of The Craft Gallery, LK Mix presents "Uncommon Objects," a group exhibition of works by more than 27 artists, running through May 16.

"Looking in a window or walking down a street, we are constantly bombarded with wildly divergent perceptions of reality," said Elle Schorr of Lake Worth. Even after 10 years in South Florida, she still feels like a lucky traveler. "I consciously seek out this cacophony — this juxtaposition of cultures, lifestyles, and times in our lives." Her works, Schorr explained, explore the multiple and often incongruous impressions that bombard us, ever-changing and in transition — a mix of yesterday, today, tomorrow.

In her paintings, Judy Flescher of Palm Beach Gardens expresses her emotions: "It is rarely a realistic rendering of actual places or objects. Although, many times, my work is a personal record of places, people, events or dreams, it may not bear any resemblance to those people, places or events. Rather, my creations express my sense of them."

Esther Gordon of Palm Beach Gardens is inspired by the colors and energy of nature. "I'm a native Floridian, so tropical themes, rich hues and a feeling of fluidity mark my artwork," she said. "Vibrant shades become nourishment for my paintings, whether it's a lush green landscape or a rich fuchsia hibiscus."

The gallery is at 5616 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and Monday by chance. For information, call (561) 586-5651.
